Alphonsus de Liguori: Selected Writings is unavailable, but you can change that!

This volume contains selected writings of Alphonsus de Liguori (1696–1787); saint, bishop, founder of the Redemptorists, and doctor of the church. These writings touch on many different areas: spirituality, spiritual direction, devotion, prayer, and moral theology.

European languages, though I am not aware of any complete English translation. The text printed here is Chapter 9 of the Praxis Confessarii and is translated from the Latin version. 1. The Lord said to Jeremiah: “This day I set you/over nations and over kingdoms,/To root up and to tear down,/to destroy and to demolish,/to build and to plant” (Jer 1:10). He says the same to confessors, whose duty it is not only to uproot vice from their penitents but also to sow the seeds of virtue in their souls.
